A Family Home Built for Comfort in Sunshine North VIC

 

Project Overview

This double-storey new build in Sunshine North features our thermally broken aluminium windows and doors selected to support a comfortable, energy-efficient family home designed to last.

The Brief

Our client approached ML Windows while planning a new build, seeking energy-efficient window and door solutions that would deliver long-term comfort, durability, and performance. Having previously built with a building company, he chose to take a more hands-on approach this time, acting as an owner-builder and managing the project himself while balancing work and family life.

Consultation & Product Selection

We met with our client and his wife at a local café to discuss their plans in detail and review product samples. After walking through the design intent, performance requirements, and available options, they were impressed by the quality, finish, and functionality of our thermally broken aluminium systems and chose to proceed with ML Windows.

Manufacturing & Delivery

Approximately three months later, the windows and doors arrived, carefully packed in two large plywood crates and ready for delivery to site. Due to unexpected weather delays, the build was not yet ready for installation. We worked closely with our client to explore storage options and compare costs. To minimise expenses, he ultimately chose to store the products onsite, carefully managing the limited space available.

The Results

A few months later, the installers engaged by our client completed the installation of the entire home over the course of several days. When we visited the site to see the finished result, the transformation was clear. The windows and doors sat beautifully within the double-storey design, bringing a strong sense of light, space, and refinement to the home.

The Lift & Slide doors quickly became a favourite feature - praised for their smooth operation and the seamless connection they create between indoor and outdoor living.

Taking on an owner-builder role while managing work and family commitments is no small undertaking, and we greatly admire our client’s commitment to the process. The finished home is shaping up to be a comfortable, thermally efficient space that will serve the family well for years to come.
