Project Overview

This full-house replacement project in Reservoir, Melbourne, features our top-of-the-range Timber Alu Clad triple glazed windows and doors - the highest-performing products in our range.

The Brief

Late 2024 we were contacted by an architect who had recently purchased a home in Melbourne’s northern suburbs. Having previously lived in London, our client was passionate about transforming his new home to meet near Passive House standards, focusing on comfort, energy efficiency, and sustainability.

The Solution

To achieve his vision, the client selected our most efficient triple glazed, double Low-E coating Timber Alu Clad windows and doors, designed to deliver exceptional thermal performance. Combined with extensive wall and ceiling insulation, the goal was to create a home that stayed naturally warm in winter and cool in summer, while dramatically reducing energy consumption.

The Process

All products were custom-manufactured, securely packed in a single plywood crate, and delivered directly to site within our estimated timeframe.

Once installation began, our team carefully removed the old thin aluminium framed single-glazed units and replaced them with the new high-performance windows. Triple glazing adds weight and requires precision handling, so extra labour was needed to lift and fit each frame safely and accurately.

​

We ensured every window was fully sealed by foaming internal cavities to eliminate drafts. Custom reveals and architraves were built on-site, and every frame was professionally caulked to achieve a perfect waterproof seal.

One large upstairs bedroom window presented a unique challenge - it was too large and heavy to be carried upstairs. Our solution: hire a compact crawler crane to lift it into position from outside. The extra effort added half a day to the installation but made the process safer, smoother, and well worth it.

The Results

The transformation was immediate. The home felt noticeably warmer (the installation took place in winter) and remarkably quieter - outside noise was almost completely eliminated. Condensation, once forming on the inside of the glass, now appears on the outside - a sure sign of excellent insulation performance. The modern aesthetic look of the new timber windows also transformed the space.
